Today, the director of the Povod Institute, Robert Križanič, gave a lecture at Ismail Qemali University, Vlora, Albania.

At the International Forum on Regional Development and Local Economy: The 6th Forum on Regional and Local Economic Development in Western Balkans FoRLED 2024, with a focus on the Blue and Green Economy, he presented the successful programs of the sustainable approach of Slovenian local communities, the programs for sustainability that we implement within the framework of the Povod Institute and its work in European and global networks such as SDG Watch Europe.

For the cover image of the presentation, he used a view of Ptuj with Drava.
The title of the lecture is “Sustainability is the key”.

The meaning of this message is that only in harmony with the environment can we prosper and even survive, not only with the primary needs that people have, but also economically.

In most of the lecture, he focused on positive aspects and practices in Slovenia and the EU. These are projects and programs of Civil Society and Local Communities, where sustainability is the central principle.

For the sake of fairness, he also had to present destructive practices for the environment and people in Ptuj, which the Municipality of Ptuj even supports and deepens. According to the principle of building in the morning – demolishing in the afternoon, municipal activities are a disaster for the people of Ptuj and for the environment every day.
