"NOT Your Scheherazade" is an atheist, queer, and decolonial alternative interpretation of Scheherazade from the book “The Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights”.

The performance and subsequent discussions reflected on intersectional feminist resistance against the current geopolitics of fanatically religious, dictatorial regimes and their imperial masters - from the misogynist kingdom of Al Saud and the terror of gender apartheid and Islamism in Iran and the Taliban, to the Zionist, imperial, patriarchal, misogynistic genocide in Palestine.

The performance and discussion took place in Zagreb on January 10th. “1001 Nights of NOT Your Scheherazade” is a series of performances and stories by Samar Zughool.

This series presents different stories each time as part of a reflective process. By engaging with recipients' reactions in a collective journey, the performer will eventually create the "NOT Your Scheherazade" book of 1001 Nights, where each night refers to one story.
