Thanks to everyone who attended our community arts performance and event, Not Your Scheherazade and Om Badawi, which took place on November 27th, 2024 in Ljubljana.

  • NOT your Schehrazade by Samar Zughool (she) is an Atheist and Queer feminist interpretation of Schehrazade from the patriarchal misogynist literature known as the “Arabian Nights book”. After each performance Samar writes 10 stories of Not Your Scheherazade which would become a book of 1001 nights, each night referring to one story.

  • Om Badawi “The Mother of Badawi” is an Egyptian-inspired character revived by Stavros Kyrillos (he).

  • The performative mediation and moderation are by Behnaz Aliesfahanipour (she, they).

We had a powerful participatory performance followed by a discussion on migration, asylum, and integration from the intersectional lens of gender and sexualities: Migration as a gender and sexual revolution.

This event received support from the Catalyst of Change Program by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee and the European Center for Not-for-Profit Law Stichting.

We hosted Stavros, who joined us from the Netherlands via the ALF in Motion program for intercultural mobility in the Euro-Med region by the Anna Lindh Foundation.
